The patient, a female healthcare worker who returned from Sierra Leone on Sunday, is being treated at Gartnavel Hospital, the BBC reported.

The patient flew on a British Airways flight via Casablanca and Heathrow airport in London before landing in Glasgow around 11:30 p.m, according to a statement by the Scottish Government. She was placed in isolation at 7:50 a.m on Monday.

"All possible contacts with the patient are now being investigated and anyone deemed to be at risk will be contacted and closely monitored," the Scottish government said.

This is the first confirmed case of Ebola in the United Kingdom. The deadly virus has killed nearly 7,900 in West Africa. Although several cases have been reported in the United States and Spain, only one Ebola patient has died in the West.
