Tonight’s screening of Macbeth winds up the presentation of movies in competition for Cannes‘ top prize, the Palme d’Or, which will be announced Sunday. Directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Michael Fassbender in the title role and Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth, the film has been rapturously received by many critics, although that’s not necessarily a barometer for traditionally finicky (or quirky, take your pick) juries at the festival.
