Former President George H.W. Bush Hosts Private Screening Of AMC’s ‘Turn’

AMC’s new Revolutionary War drama series Turn received a glowing presidential endorsement tonight as former U.S. President George H.W. Bush and his wife former first lady Barbara Bush hosted a private Houston, TX screening of the new show with the cast, executive producers Barry Josephson and Craig Silverstein and several AMC executives including president and general manager Charlie Collier in attendance.  Turn, which debuts on Sunday, April 6 at 9pm ET, follows the story of Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a Long Island farmer who is integral in the creation of a spy ring that assists George Washington during the Revolutionary War. As the former head of the CIA, Bush was elated with Turn, exclaiming to the audience after the screening, “AMC put together a brilliant show, a fantastic cast, there’s one problem however, and that’s waiting till the next episode.”  Collier said, “It was utterly fascinating to share the story of America’s first spy ring with President Bush, who knows first-hand from his days at the CIA, the danger these men and women faced as spies, and the sacrifices they made which ultimately ensured America’s freedom.”  Showrunner Silverstein went so far to invite Bush to the Turn writers room.
