Nominations for France’s César Awards, the local equivalent to the Oscar, are being announced this morning in Paris. Eyes are on Cannes Palme d’Or winner Blue Is The Warmest Color, or La Vie D’Adèle: Chapitres 1 & 2, as it’s known in French. The film is expected to score myriad nods, but as with recent years, it wouldn’t be unprecedented to see a surprise film beat out the perceived leader and garner the most mentions. While box office was relatively bleak for local films in 2013, there are other favorites out there including François Ozon’s Jeune Et Jolie, Roman Polanski’s Venus In Fur, Alain Giraudie’s Stranger By The Lake, Guillaume Gallienne’s Les Garçons Et Guillaume, A Table! and Albert Dupontel’s 9 Mois Ferme. Some of the above also played Cannes. The César ceremony will take place on February 28 in Paris with The Intouchables‘ François Cluzet presiding. Nominees follow, refresh for latest:
