Denise Richards Had The Classiest Response After Being Insulted By Charlie Sheen's Twitter Account

She’s stayin’ cool.

Actor Charlie Sheen is having a very...eventful Father's Day.

Brad White / Via Getty Images

What did he do? Well, he tweeted out some interesting things about his ex-wife, Denise Richards.

Richards was his second wife and together they had two daughters, Sam and Lola.

"Brooke M" most likely refers to his third ex-wife, Brooke Mueller. Charlie and Brooke have twin sons, Max and Bob, who were once in Richards' custody, along with Sam and Lola.

Twitter: @charliesheen

There's not much to say, except for the fact that apparently Charlie was not very happy with Denise.

Twitter: @charliesheen

And it got pretty vile.

In addition to describing her as the "worst mom alive," the post tweeted from Sheen's account calls Richards some pretty disgusting things.

The posts were later deleted from Sheen's account. News has reached out to his representatives for comment.

Chris Pratt Re-Enacted The Raptor Scene From "Jurassic World" At A Children's Hospital

This is ADORABLE.

Since the release of Jurassic World, people have been turning the scene in which Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) "trains" velociraptors into a rather brilliant meme.

instagram.com

Well, it turns out Pratt has joined in on the fun, too. While visiting the Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pratt was snapped re-enacting the raptor pose with three children.

Facebook: ololchildrens

The visit was coordinated by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, an organisation that raises funds and awareness for 170 member children's hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. The Reddit user said that if Chris Pratt's "heart of gold" inspired people, they could consider donating to a CMN hospital in their area. "I guarantee they could use your dollars," she added.

In a Facebook post, the hospital said: "Actor Chris Pratt, best known for Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy, took time out from filming his latest movie to visit with our ‪#‎AmazingKids‬ at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. Our patients were all smiles and we are so thankful to Chris for lifting their spirits by visiting and handing out Jurassic World goodies. Thanks to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals for coordinating such a special visit!"

E3 2015: Who came away from E3 2015 with the console crown?

Who won E3 2015?This year's E3 is all wrapped up, the glitz and glamour of the world's biggest gaming show is over and the votes have been cast. With Microsoft and Sony going toe-to-toe, and Nintendo sneaking in the back door, who has come away from LA with the E3 2015 crown?Well, Sony is my choice for "winner" of this year's E3 expo, but I think Nintendo is the company most deserving of a round of applause - or at the very least, a heartfelt hug and restorative cup of tea. It might have had by far the least memorable conference, with fans up in arms over the absence of certain games and franchises, but it also had to work the hardest for what little acclaim it managed to garner. The fabulous but underselling Wii U, after all, is at death's door - a successor, the NX, has been announced but isn't yet ready for reveal, which puts Nintendo in the painful position of shoring up an ailing platform while tacitly setting aside the pick of forthcoming games for a console it can't discuss. Hence its unexciting E3 software line-up, a parade of spin-offs led by the already known-about game editing suite Super Mario Maker and arcade shooter Star Fox Zero, bolstered by some diversionary theatrics on the part of company executives.Perhaps the fan reception would have been kinder had Nintendo gone first with its presser, rather than striding into the frenzy generated by some utterly bonkers announcements from the other two manufacturers. As things stood, it was like watching Mario play tennis against two tennis machines, armed with a string-less racket.Judged in isolation, however, Nintendo's E3 slate was pretty strong - more tangible, certainly, than Sony's fairytale show of vapourware brought back from the dead - and PR blunder-free save for the tactically misjudged announcement of a Metroid that isn't the much-rumoured Metroid Prime 4.Out in December, the new Starfox is the very definition of a nostalgic Christmas treat, modelled on the celebrated SNES and N64 titles and created in partnership with Platinum Games, a studio with few peers in the third-person action space. Super Mario Maker looks delightful for all its homely visuals, and is something of a triple triumph - a journey through Mario's glorious history, a workout for Wii U's under-utilised tablet controller and a love letter to wannabe designers of all ages. While hardly killer apps, these games show that Nintendo has its heart in the right place as the manufacturer prepares its new machine for the public eye. With Nintendo buying time for NX, it was left to Sony and Microsoft to deliver most of the drama this year. In a refreshing departure from the subtweet-level hostilities that characterise many E3s, this year's clash felt like a sparky double-act rather than a catfight - each company playing to its own strengths without really treading on the other's toes. The exception there is, of course, the shock announcement of local Xbox One backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games, given publisher approval. It's not the kind of feature that wins console wars in itself - previous generations have shown that people are happy to hold onto their old consoles and games - but the impact on the battle of perceptions shouldn't be understated. Sony has done well over the past few years by presenting itself as best friend to the average gamer, with a cheaper yet more powerful machine and a library of great "free" games on PlayStation Plus. Now, it must pitch its own, pricey backwards compatibility program, the PlayStation Now streaming service, against a free solution that isn't affected by internet latency. Sony can take some consolation from the fact that Activision's Call of Duty franchise has switched sides, ending its long-standing symbolic DLC partnership with Xbox in order to bring Black Ops 3 maps to PS4 players first. That teeth-rattling backwards compatibility revelation aside, Microsoft's major reveals and promises were predictable but substantial: a blend of clever strategic overtures, such as the announcement of a Steam Early Access-style trials program for Xbox One, and accomplished-looking winter 2015 exclusives, livened up by a mind-bending show of the HoloLens headset in action. Bread-and-butter games like Halo 5, Forza 6 and Gears of War all put in appearances along with Rare Ltd's long-awaited new IP, Sea of Thieves, a multiplayer-centric pirate sim with naval battles that call to mind Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. In further evidence that the British developer has left its Kinect days far behind, this surfaced alongside an Xbox One compilation of classic Rare games such as Perfect Dark and Battletoads - all IPs we'd like to see more of in future. Microsoft also secured what is probably the conference's most important third party exclusive deal in the shape of support for Fallout 4 mods on Xbox One. Major Bethesda RPGs are once-in-a-generation affairs, and this one is impossibly full-featured - it's a game that lets you build your own town, for crying out loud. Those mods will eventually appear on Sony's flagship console, but according to Fallout 4's game director, Todd Howard, the timetable on that is 'fuzzy'. But none of that was enough to seriously challenge what is perhaps Sony's greatest E3 conference to date, an exercise in pure wish fulfilment that had the most jaded of observers wiping away tears of gratitude. It began with the first PS4 footage of The Last Guardian, a spiritual sequel to the acclaimed ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, which stars a lost child and an enormous yet endearing, wonderfully lifelike mythical creature. The game was announced for PS3 way back in 2009, and most fans of creator Fumito Ueda had given up hope of ever playing it - myself included. The Last Guardian's presence on stage made the conference a hit all by itself, but more was to follow. Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake, a game that's been in demand for the best part of two decades, will come first to PS4. There was no in-game footage and precious little detail, but the CGI trailer alone put the publisher's stock price through the ceiling. And then, perhaps most miraculously of all, Sony reached into its wizard's hat and pulled out a Kickstarter page for Yu Suzuki's Shenmue 3, successor to the Dreamcast's most treasured exclusive. Within a matter of hours fans had pledged over a million dollars, crippling the site's servers in the process (the majority of funds will be supplied by Sony and other backers). So grand and unexpected were these reveals that most of the Sony show's other big moments, such as live footage of Uncharted 4 and a new IP about hunting robot dinosaurs from Guerrilla Games, felt like warm-up acts rather than plausible GOTY candidates. The conference left us with plenty of unanswered questions, in fairness - whether The Last Guardian has really overcome its infamous development difficulties? When exactly Final Fantasy VII will launch given Square Enix's track record for delays? And how exactly PS4 owners will occupy themselves this winter, with few exclusive games on offer? But then, E3 conferences are about raw showmanship in the first instance, about selling a dream to millions of viewers worldwide rather than fielding enquiries from people on the ground, and this year Sony has put on a historic performance.

OS X Yosemite tip: how to customize your Dock

IntroductionThe Dock has been a mainstay of OS X since the start, a place to stash apps and documents as well as easily see what's running on your Mac.Visually, the Dock has seen big changes over the years. Initially it was a semi-transparent white rectangle with subtle pinstripes, which were eradicated as of OS X 10.2 Jaguar. In OS X 10.5 Leopard, the Dock turned into a 3D glass "shelf" when at the bottom of the screen, which gradually got frosted as the operating system was upgraded further. In OS X 10.10 Yosemite, we've almost come full circle, with the Dock reverting to a simpler semitransparent rectangle.Docking stationIf you're not thrilled with the new Dock, you can use the free cDock (sourceforge.net/projects/cdock) to make changes. The app is capable of updating a number of aspects of the Dock, including the addition of spacers, creating a "recent items" folder and dimming hidden apps.Note that on first launching cDock, you may get a security warning; if so, open System Preferences, go to Security & Privacy > General, and click Open Anyway. Now let's take a detailed look at how cDock can enhance the functionality of your Dock.1. Make the Dock 3DLaunch cDock and select the Dock theme menu. If you'd like your Yosemite Dock to resemble the one from Mavericks, select Yosemite 3D and click Apply. cDock will quit, the Dock will relaunch, and a few seconds later it'll be a 3D shelf again.2. Update its themeTo update the theme, relaunch cDock and choose a new option from the menu. The Fullscreen options make the Dock fill the screen edge; Transparent removes the background. To go back to OS X's default theme, select Restore > Apply.3. Add Dock spacersSpacers can help you organize multiple items in your Dock into groups. Use the spacers menus in cDock to add items on the "app" and "doc" sides and click Apply. Drag to move your spacers; to remove one, right-click and select "Remove from Dock."4. Add a recents stackSet "Add recents folder" to Yes > Apply. A new stack appears in the Dock, with quick access to recent apps. Right-click to switch this to documents, servers, or favorites. Run it again to add another stack (it won't replace any existing ones).5. Show only active appsThe Dock, by default, shows both stashed and running apps, but to only show running apps and the Trash check "Show only active applications" > Apply. This makes your Dock into an app switcher. To revert, uncheck the option in cDock and Apply.6. Mouse over highlightsIf you've added one or more recent folders, try selecting "mouse over highlight" in cDock. On restarting your Dock, you'll see a highlight behind any app you're hovering the mouse cursor over, which helps make your selection easier to spot.7. Lock the DockIt's easy to add stuff to the Dock by mistake, but cDock can help: check "Lock dock contents" > Apply. You'll no longer be able to add items to it by dragging them, and options to remove items will be gone. Uncheck the box and click Apply to revert.8. Custom themeFor a more personal take on the Dock's appearance, select Custom from "Dock theme" > Apply. It will load settings.txt and an instructions document. Edit and save settings.txt, and click the cDock icon in the menu bar to refresh the Dock.

This is the most lifelike bionic hand on the planet

29-year-old Londoner Nicky Ashwell, who was born without a right hand, has been fitted with one of the world's most advanced robotic prosthetics. The 'BeBionic small' has 337 mechanical parts and is slimmer than most prosthetics. Its creator, a firm from Leeds called Steeper Group, says it was made specifically with women, teenagers and smaller-framed men in mind. It was designed using Formula One technology, and built around an accurate skeletal structure using miniaturised components. Each finger has separate motors that can move independently, controlled by muscles in the arm, and the joints are hinged on rare-earth magnets. To further enhance the realism, the fingertips contain air bubbles. Helping handIt's also pretty sturdy, able to cope with 45kg of force - the same as 25 bricks. It's capable of 14 different grip patterns and hand positions, allowing Ashwell to lift small objects, hold onto the pole on a train or even ride a bike."I keep finding myself being surprised by the little things, like being able to carry my purse while holding my boyfriend's hand," she said, adding that while it comes with a cover she doesn't like using it. "I quite like it like this. I'm not trying to disguise it as a real hand. I'm happy for it to look all robotic and cool."Got honey and a microwave? Great - you can cook your own carbon nanoparticles

Find love on Tinder - then bin them on Binder

What do you do if the person you liked on Tinder turns out to be a lot less likeable in real life? You could feign a heart attack, have a pal call you with an invented emergency, or just pretend you need the toilet and run as if the Devil himself were on your tail. Or you could take the coward's way out and dump them digitally with the Binder app.Binder - it rhymes with Tinder - is an iOS and Android app, and it's designed to kick people to the kerb, deliver the old dumparoonie and give them the Spanish archer. It's the Tinder of dumping people. If you thought ending relationships by SMS was a bit harsh, Binder takes things a step further: give it the name of the person you want to dump, hand over their mobile number and Binder will call them to deliver the bad news on your behalf. It'll also text them to make doubly sure, and if you want to make yourself look even more of a monster you can share the good news on your favourite social network too.You monsterThe good news is that Binder is meant as a joke - the break-up calls are quite funny, and the app is based on one of a series of cartoons by a Scottish brewery - and you can tell from the tongue-in-cheek testimonials on the Binder website ("Some say love is the key to happiness. Those people are wrong") that this isn't an app to take seriously. But we can't help wondering if some people will do just that, and use Binder for real. That's not just us in "humanity's done and it's time for the cockroaches to take over" mode. In the US, the Trash Day app enables San Franciscans to get someone else to put their bins out for them, and nobody appears to know whether the app is a Nathan Barley-style parody of tech startups or a genuine service (and if it is a parody, then Here Comes The Airplane is a parody of that parody). There's no doubt that some people would rather live their entire lives through apps if they could, and maybe that includes dumping dates too. Does that sound far-fetched? Try explaining hipsters, Uber and Tinder to your gran. If there's one thing we can confidently predict about the future, it's that it'll be weirder than we can possibly imagine.

6 Online Tools For Female Entrepreneurs To Work From Home

Women who work from home can use online tools for female entrepreneurs to help grow their business, and take the struggle out of managing their business and their daily lives. More and more women are leaving university and moving directly into starting their own business, and evidence suggests that this number will grow even more during the next few years. However, working from home can be a stressful and exhausting position, and women in particular may suffer from the fact that their families do not respect their ‘business time‘, or make demands that put working from home in second place. In order to get the best out of running your own business, online resources which allow you to keep your accounts up-to-date, or control your workspace are simply not enough. Instead, women can get support and help which will ensure that they have the confidence to carry on. From basic support at the start of a business, to long-term assistance with inspiration and persistence, these online tools for female entrepreneurs can help them to carry on with their dream of running their own business from home. By using some of these tools, businesswomen can ensure that they not only work hard, but reap the full benefits of working for themselves. “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.” – Aristotle Here are the 6 best online tools for female entrepreneurs to work from home:   1. Ladies Who Launch Ladies Who Launch is one of the top online tools for female entrepreneurs who are just beginning their business. This is the most difficult time for companies, as most start-ups fail within the first 6 months of their launch. Therefore this tool, which is aimed at helping women in the US and Canada, not only provides community support, but also assists with local help, providing contacts to workshops and meetings for small businesses in the local area. There are also coffee mornings, workshops on particular aspects of business such as PR, and there are also online speakers who discuss particular issues such as sales tactics. A combination of free and paid areas, this is a great website for businesswomen who are looking for more extensive help than just a website forum.   2. Women Home Business Women Home Business is another website designed to help women entrepreneurs. There is a special section on the website which is dedicated to helping those women who work from home, and can be a great way to get ideas, read information which will help you out of a tight spot, and also ensure that you get the best from your own working-from-home experience. For most women it is a struggle to manage the work-life balance, and when you set up a business in your home, you are mixing the stresses of both parts of your life in one location. Women Home Business can help you to get a clearer idea of what you are looking for, and is one of a number of good online resources for work from home women. 3. Freshbooks Freshbooks is an essential online tool because businesswomen need to keep track of their finances as much as any male entrepreneur. There are several different accounting applications which can help you to manage your resources, including income, expenses and stock. However, Freshbooks is a much wider tool, allowing you to create invoices and bill clients over the internet. It also has connections to phonelines, so you can get immediate help with any accounting problems. In addition, as it is based on cloud computing, Freshbooks can be used anywhere. It is iPhone and iPad specific at the moment, but as with most online resources for work from home women, a PC version will probably be available in the near future.   4. Highrise Highrise is a tool for women who need to work with clients regularly. While some businesses seem to run without direct interaction with clients, in fact most work-from-home women will need some assistance in timing their meetings and keeping track of clients. Highrise allows you to keep emails between yourself and the client, follow the progress of deals or proposals, and manage your team, as well as ensuring that all clients are followed-up. All of these tools are vital to ensure that you can manage your business easily, and you may find that you need to expand your initial free start-up package in order to take in more clients as your business grows.   5. HootSuite Hootsuite is a Twitter tool, and can be essential for women who work from home and need to promote their business. Social media sites offer great business tools for entrepreneurs, and can be the way to reach out to your local community, or extend your reach into the wider world. Female entrepreneurs might find that this tool is not quite right for them, but there are other Twitter accessories which will allow them to keep track of their Twitter account, assess who is following them, and reply quickly to potential clients. Social media tools of some kind are essential for the modern female entrepreneur. “Don’t just stand for the success of other women, insist on it.” – Gail Blanke 6. ProProfs Training Maker ProProfs Training Maker is a powerful online software and learning management system that allows women to develop online training courses, sell them out to an audience they know needs it and make money out of it. Women can use it to create online courses, complemented by assessments, surveys and polls to deliver comprehensive training and educational programs. The tool is loaded with powerful features such as the ability to upload existing learning materials including presentations, PDFs and videos, as well as online content into the training. Bundled with advance features for easy course creation, sharing and analytics, ProProfs Training Maker is the best tool to create effective training for women entrepreneurs.

‘True Detective’ Season 2 Review: Rachel McAdams Collars Dark HBO Drama

Telling a good police story is an art: The job and nature of the characters allow you to put them almost anywhere, but like a rat in a cage, once you’ve got ’em you’ve got to figure out what to do with them. As my video review above says, the very hardboiled and very good Season 2 debut of True Detective on HBO on June 21 very deftly takes us to some very familiar and very different places.
Of course, the temptation is to compare the second installment of the anthology…

Apple Now Says It Will Pay Artists During Customer Free Trial

The company confirmed to News that its new streaming service will pay royalties. Apple Senior Vice President Eddy Cue personally called Taylor Swift to announce the company’s decision.

Apple will pay artists while its customers get its new Apple Music service for free. Apple has come under fire from musicians recently, most notably from Taylor Swift, over concerns that it would not pay artists during a three month free trial period it was offering its customers to sample its new streaming service.

But it reversed course tonight, announcing the change via a tweet from the company's senior vice president Eddy Cue. Apple subsequently confirmed to News that it will, in fact, be paying for the rights to stream music throughout the trial period.

In an interview with News, Apple's media boss Eddy Cue said the company will pay artists on a per stream basis during the free three month trial. Cue declined to say what the rate per stream might be. Afterwards, it will pay music owners 71.5 percent of Apple Music's subscription revenue in the United States. Internationally, the number will fluctuate, but will average out at around 73 percent.

The initial decision to forego payments was met with heavy criticism from the music industry at large, especially independent record labels who would be facing a steep charge to be a part of the platform.

The deal's loudest detractor, however, was Taylor Swift, who announced she would not stream her latest album, 1989, on the new service.

The 2005 Decision To Go Forward With The Fight For Marriage Equality

“[W]e can achieve marriage for same-sex couples nationwide in 15 to 25 years,” the leaders of the LGBT movement declared on June 21, 2005 — a decade ago to the day. The decision followed big losses in November 2004.

A scene from San Francisco on April 3, 2004.

Susan Ragan / ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON — In the aftermath of 11 states passing constitutional amendments in November 2004 banning same-sex couples from marrying, the leaders of ten LGBT organizations met in New Jersey to discuss what should happen next.

It was May 2005 and only one state — Massachusetts — had legalized same-sex couples' marriages. Reeling from losses in more than a dozen states, the movement to expand marriage equality was on the defensive, trying to preserve their victory in Massachusetts and fend off an expected "anti-gay-relationship initiative" in California.

On June 21, 2005 — one decade ago to the day — the group published a document titled, "Winning Marriage: What We Need to Do." While late versions of this plan have been publicized, this statement — agreed upon by 10 groups at a time when the future of the marriage equality fight was in real question — is a "concept paper" that formed the basis of much of the work that followed. Never before published, a copy of the full statement was provided to News.

The document, which represented a compromise among the leading LGBT groups, outlined a recommitment to go forward with the fight for marriage equality. And it came with a strategy and a timetable — 15 to 25 years — that, in retrospect, looks modest.

But a decade ago, there was not unanimity, even among the LGBT leaders who participated, on the wisdom of pursuing marriage rights for same-sex couples. There is a three-paragraph addendum included in the statement addressing the "critical assumption" of why the fight for marriage equality was the path forward.

"Many people in the LGBT community would have preferred not to have made marriage a leading issue now. Many would have preferred to have addressed the legal and social recognition of same-sex couples with different tactics and/or with different conceptual models," the document stated. "Some members of the working group that drafted this concept paper are among those people."

The group — which included key marriage equality movement leaders like Freedom to Marry's Evan Wolfson and Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders's Mary Bonauto — concluded, "There is no way that gay people can be full participants in American life as long as society and the law treat our relationships as if they were inferior or as if they did not exist."

In addition to Bonauto — who argued for marriage equality at the Supreme Court this April — and Wolfson, leaders from the Human Rights Campaign, Task Force, Lambda Legal, ACLU, National Center for Lesbian Rights, Equality Federation, National Black Justice Coalition, and Basic Rights Oregon participated in the New Jersey meeting and preparation of the "Winning Marriage" statement.

"[O]ur opponents have already seen the possibilities and the dangers of this moment," the statement laid out. "We must give this everything we've got, and we must do it now." The document was blunt, declaring, "we cannot stop our opponents, if we simply continue doing what we are doing now."

The key goal for the movement, mentioned repeatedly throughout the document, was moving public opinion.

"Only with widespread public acceptance will the Supreme Court and/or Congress be ready to take marriage nationwide," the document stated. Even in the face of the losses in the prior election — and with the talk of a Federal Marriage Amendment in the air — the document boldly declared: "Winning the public cannot be something that is deferred to some more convenient time down the road."

The group laid out a "10/10/10/20" strategy — winning marriage in 10 states, civil unions in another 10, domestic partnership benefits in another 10, and "whittling away" at the final 20 states.

The June 2005 timeline for this was 15 to 20 years — five to ten years from now.

The 10/10/10/20 Plan

The document laid out a plan that involved "[p]reserving marriage in Massachusetts" and "[d]efeating the expected anti-gay-relationship initiative(s) in California."

"If 30 or 35 states pass constitutional amendments, we will likely have to repeal a significant number of them before we can turn to the federal government to address holdouts," the document reads.

Massachusetts maintained marriage equality, but after a multi-year fight, California passed its marriage amendment, Proposition 8, in 2008.

When North Carolina passed its marriage amendment in May 2012, it became the 30th state to pass a constitutional amendment banning same-sex couples from marrying. None of those amendments have been repealed in a popular vote.

Despite setbacks, there was success on the fourth "short-term goal" highlighted by the group: Add 2 or 3 states to the marriage equality column in "4 to 5 years." Connecticut, Iowa, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Washington, DC all had marriage equality by the start of 2010.

The document laid out other goals that were not met, including a warning that, in addition to moving public opinion, the movement must "lose as few court cases as possible." Court losses in New York, Washington, and Maryland would soon follow, as well as a decision in New Jersey that was, at that point, limited to civil unions.

The document also said that the movement had to "start winning in state legislatures as well as in courts." Later that year, California's lawmakers would do so — but Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed the measure. In 2009, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and DC passed marriage legislatively — although Maine voters repealed the measure in a referendum.

The statement also included a frank assessment of the Federal Marriage Amendment — a proposed constitutional amendment that would have ended marriage equality nationwide — in terms not generally discussed openly by LGBT advocates in that time or in discussions of that time in the time since.

"It might possible to make a ratification fight work for us," according to the statement — but warning that such a fight "would become the exclusive focus of our work for five to seven years."

Racist Reddit Group Embraces Alleged Charleston Shooting Manifesto

Among the members of /r/coontown, the manifesto’s author has found a sympathetic ear. One user wrote, “If this is the real deal…he’s no different from me, really.”

lastrhodesian.com / Via lastrhodesian.com

As the world digests the alleged manifesto of the Charleston church shooting suspect, the white supremacist document is finding a sympathetic ear in the depths of Reddit's racist /r/coontown community.

The diatribe wanders from a discussion of the "historical lies, exaggerations, and myths" of slavery to outlining disdain for Latinos and Jews. It concludes by saying, "we have no skinheads, no real KKK, no one doing anything but talking on the internet. Well someone has to have the bravery to take it to the real world, and I guess that has to be me."

/r/coontown's discussion on the manifesto has elicited a degree of sympathy and understanding from the subreddit's members.

"If this is the real deal...he's no different from me, really," wrote one redditor that received dozens of upvotes. "Except for that shooting up a church thing, that is."

The user has left more than 30 comments in /r/coontown since Wednesday, the day of the Charleston massacre.

I'm sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free 3 month trial to anyone who signs up for the service. I'm not sure you know that Apple Music will not be paying writers, producers, or artists for those three months. Amazon's star ratings are about to get a lot more useful

Do you pay much attention to the star ratings left by previous purchasers when shopping for stuff on Amazon? The e-commerce giant has told CNET that those star ratings are being tweaked to be more useful.Newer reviews get more priority over older reviews, while ratings left by "verified Amazon purchasers" will also carry extra weight. Reviews upvoted by other users get pushed to the top too."The system will learn what reviews are most helpful to customers... and it improves over time," Amazon spokeswoman Julie Law told CNET. "It's all meant to make customer reviews more useful."Starring roleIt means the five-star rating you see next to an HDMI cable or Game of Thrones Blu-ray disc may change more regularly as newer reviews and ratings arrive. The updated system has already begun rolling out in the US - as yet Amazon hasn't confirmed if it's going to appear on other regional sites. Fighting Talk: It's time we stopped getting angry about our internet speeds

Do you spend your evenings sitting in the kitchen, counting how long it takes to fill a bucket of water from your cold tap, then sending angry emails to your water supplier when it's not filling as fast as Simon's identical bucket is three doors down on the same street?Probably not. That would be weird, wouldn't it?It still works. You still get water out of it. There are no obvious bits of poo or dead insects in it, and the toilet flushes. In fact all of the toilets flush even at the same time (you checked), so all's good, right? This week saw consumer rights campaigner Which? lambast our ISPs for not delivering Internet speeds as high as they promise on their adverts, a shady advertising practise that's perhaps a little unfair, yes, but surely a state of affairs that can hardly be avoided when trying to get 1950s copper to channel 2015's HD Netflix to everyone's tablets simultaneously in a small village in Somerset. It seems a little bit unfair on the ISPs, like measuring your mains water pressure or moaning to Vauxhall that the speedo on your Vectra goes up to 120mph, but forgetting to mention that whenever you try to go that fast you're limited by physical constraints like road speeds, cameras, corners, traffic, the price of petrol and not being able to find your favourite going-fast CD for a psychological boost. There are, similarly, quite a few factors involved in getting the internet working in streets and your house, not least managing to plug everything together properly. How many people reporting crappy internet speeds are reaping the rewards of their own crappy cabling? Or interference, or a slightly damp microfilter, or a computer so full of malware and P2P software they're serving more data to more people around the world per hour than Google?Game of moansPlus your ISP can't really help it if everyone on your street is so into Game of Thrones they're torrenting the same HD files all day and night. You can't have adverts that bespoke, promising a connection of "...up to 16Mbps, unless Dave up the road has got a binge-on for House and is grabbing Series 6 off the torrents, in which case you'll be lucky to see 9Mbps, and that's only if Mrs Johnson's three children aren't all watching YouTube, in which case..."My Internet's a bit flaky. I usually get by on around 6Mbps, but if it's windy or wet, it can drop to 2Mbps for reasons, I suspect, to do with moisture or sheep standing on cables. It doesn't ruin my life, just makes it unfold at a bit of a slower pace.In fact, I've learned to quite like slow internet days, as it means the wife gets off YouTube and stops playing her horrible music, plus the children, frustrated by buffering YouTube and iPlayer, might actually be tempted outside to throw stones at things and unfamiliar people like we used to do for fun in the olden days. You wouldn't complain to your local council that there are too many other cars on the road, so why is everyone such a whinge-bag about their internet speeds? It's probably because it's modern and electrical, and bordering on the sort of magical thing we can't understand. It's only wires, they ought to just work at their maximum all of the time and be uninterruptable and reliable, like gravity, shouldn't they? The internet is also measurable. We get a number saying if it's a good or bad connection, a number that can be compared and moaned about, plus, hopefully, used as a bargaining tool to save £2 a month come renewal time. It's easy to get obsessed about numbers, hence the fury when we perceive we're being shortchanged by the ISPs. It's like getting on a bus that's overtaken by another bus. Or the worst thing in the world. We treat internet access too much like a one-way street. It's all take, take, take, demand, demand, demand, and make it faster, faster, faster at the same time or I'll leave you, with no compromise from modern users used to getting everything their way.How about the ISPs hit their speed target promises if connections cost three times as much per month? Or how about you get more Mbps in return for a restricted service, where P2P networks are blocked and VPN use is outlawed so connections in urban areas don't get so snarled up by hoarders queuing up downloads of everything HD?There wouldn't be much of a rush to register for that one, regardless of the test results.

The Future TV tech you need to know about

Future TV techYou know the deal, you turn the TV on at the end of a long day and you think "I've had this TV nearly a year now, must be time to get a new one". Of course, for most people this doesn't progress much further than that initial thought, happily there are usually other people sharing our houses that can talk some sense into us. But, eventually you will want to upgrade your TV, so what technologies should we all be on the lookout for? Here's a list of some of the thanks that are going to change, get better or come on the market in the near future that you're going to want to have on your next TV set. HDR and wide colour Without doubt one of the biggest changes, and most needed, is an increase in the transmission colour space. For a long time broadcast cameras have been capturing far more colour than could ever be sent over the air. TVs too have, for years, been able to display much more colour detail than they were ever asked to. Expect to see more vivid colours in the future though, as TVs evolve to show us more, thanks to improved broadcast and 4K disc formats, like Ultra HD Blu-ray. Somewhat related to wide colour is HDR. This, again, is going to be one of the most significant changes to broadcast TV we're ever going to see. If you look at TV now, you will notice that a typical shot will have light areas and dark areas. Imagine a window with a bright summer day outside, but a darker scene inside. Traditional TVs - along with disc formats, downloads and streams - only allow us to see detail in one or the other. So you can have either loads of detail inside the dark area, with the window blown out and very white or you can reverse that, and see loads of detail outside, and just black inside. The human eye and brain handle this for you in reality, so looking out of the window doesn't usually work like this. But with HDR a movie or TV show can be shot in a way that all the detail can be recovered. Directors will still get to chose what you see, but they will also be able to give you mind-blowing visuals too. An HDR photograph gives you some idea of what's possible, so have a look to see what's coming.Netflix will stream wide colour and HDR video this year to TVs which are able to support that format, like the glorious Samsung UE65JS9500 and some of LG's OLED range. High framerate Remember when The Hobbit was released on HFR and everyone bitched and moaned about how it looked like a video? Well, ignore those idiots because HFR has a great deal to offer, and has potentially more benefit than yet another resolution increase from 1080p to 4K. HFR has a lot of benefits for things that aren't movies. For one thing, reality shows and news don't need to be shot in a low framerate any more. Historically, in the analogue world 50i or 25p were ways to save bandwidth. Essentially, you save capacity by sending half the total picture twice as often as the frame rate. So 25p was sent in two fields, each contained 50% of the picture. While the total amount of data sent doesn't change, you're achieving twice as much resolution as you would normally be able to "afford". But look, we can send 4K over the internet now. We have much better compression and we just don't need to send crappy 25FPS video. TVs too can easily handle frame rates of 120fps, and 60fps has been a reality for years too. Of course "drama" productions rely on low frame rates to make us think they are high-quality productions. In reality the motion blur and general crappiness offered by 25p is used to conceal a load of mistakes. A lot of TV would look a lot better in 60p though, especially sport. So expect this to make up some of what a 4K broadcast standard eventually becomes. Wideband reception One of Qualcomm's upcoming ideas is that your next phone be able to stream a lot of data to a device very close to it. If you owned one of those TVs that was "wireless" and allowed you to mount it on a wall with nothing but a power socket then you've seen this in action. Basically, it's like any wireless tech but operates in the very high gigahertz range of frequencies. It works over very short distances, but allows you to send 1080p or even 4K video from your phone to your TV. This means your phone can become even more of an entertainment hub than ever before. It would work well with TVs that are actually very simple and have few inputs. Just send a signal from any device in your lounge to the TV without the need to plug it in with HDMI. A magical see-through mirror TVTo those of us who are nuts about picture quality, actual TV design can make up some of the less interesting stuff. But when you look at what's coming in the next few years it's hard not to get a bit excited. One of the things that OLEDs can do quite simply is transparency. OLED panels are transparent anyway, just because of how they are produced with an organic compound is sandwiched between two electrode layers. One of these is transparent - so you can see a picture - while the other isn't in a normal TV, but making both transparent isn't a problem. Practically speaking, having a transparent OLED means you can put them on things that need to be seen through. Perhaps this is a window, a mirror in your bathroom or just a TV that's able to become part of the furniture when you switch it off, making for a much less obvious piece of technology. A TV you stick to the wall This is another triumph for OLED, and LG has already shown off a demo of an TV that's so thin you can just stick it to a wall. The panel itself is less than 1mm thick, and weighs a bit less than 2kg. To stick it to the wall you just use a magnetic mat, and Bob's your uncle, a TV that looks like a poster. Clever stuff. Quantum LED and Crystal LEDThese are two technologies we've recently covered in depth, so we'll not do it again now. But let's just say that TVs which use self-emitting pixels (ones which produce their own light) are the way forward. LCD should die out, hopefully, and QLED, CLED and OLED should be the panels which lead the charge into the next decade. Although with all that said, LCDs have remains incredibly adaptable, so perhaps we shouldn't write them off just yet...

Review: Panasonic TX-32CS510

Introduction and featuresDoes anyone remember the HD-ready TV? While Panasonic – like every other TV maker – has gone gung-ho on Ultra HD and fitted most of its new 2015 TVs with 4k panels, this 32-incher gets the opposite treatment. Its 1366 x 768 pixels don't even muster a Full HD image, but what the 32CS510 lacks in dots it makes up for in advanced usability features. For inside the 32CS510 is not only a Freeview HD tuner, but also a Freetime user interface for easy catch-up TV, and Panasonic's slick myHomeScreen smart TV platform. The latter has been surpassed this year on the brand's top-end TVs, but on a 32-inch TV of this low price it still feels like an advanced feature. There's even Swipe and Share, which trades files wirelessly between tablets/phones and the 32CS510. It may be a TV destined for a bedroom, but it's going to be one seriously well-connected den. Physically, the 32CS510 is predictable but impressive. Its 69mm depth isn't mould-breaking, but from the front it looks like a shrunken version of a high-end TV, which isn't at all usual at this level of the market. Around three sides is a gloss black bezel that measures a tiny 10mm, while on the bottom that increases to 20mm because of a metallic panel that stretches right across. The desktop stand is a cut-out, which helps give the 32CS510 a less plastic-dominated look than previous incarnations, but the overall look is no more than business-like. Overall dimensions are 734 x 437 x 69mm – this is a TV with a small footprint. FeaturesThe headline feature on the 32CS510 is undoubtedly Freetime, a smart TV guide from the makers of Freesat which provides a dynamic (and great-looking) platform offering catch-up TV for the last seven days across 26 channels. The chance to roll back through the TV schedules is excellent, and on the 32CS510 Freetime is completely integrated. There's a Freeview HD guide page provided on the TV too, though there's really no need to use it. Ditto the BBC iPlayer app on the 32CS510's myHomeScreen platform. With BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5 integrated into Freetime, it acts like a built-in YouView. AppsPanasonic's attempt at apps is via its myHomeScreen, a platform that eschews the 2015 trend of depending on pop-ups. Instead, myHomeScreen contains a large live TV preview screen that's ringed with shortcuts to various TV functions, or the whole suite of Freetime services. One of those shortcuts is Apps, a separate screen that includes Netflix, the BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport, BBC News, YouTube, Wuaki.tv, Meteonews TV and Amazon Instant Video. A second page adds a web browser, Eurosport Player, CNBC Real-Time, Aupeo radio, euronews, Facebook, Twitter and AccuWeather.com. If you're wondering where catch-up apps from ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 are, don't worry, as they're all rolled-up into Freetime. Ins and outs How many HDMI inputs does one home need? More than the 32CS510 has, that's for sure. As if to underline that the 32CS510 is purely for use in a bedroom or kitchen, a rear panel offers a mere brace of HDMI inputs. Other slots back there include Ethernet LAN (despite the presence of a Wi-Fi module), an RGB Scart, component video inputs, left/right phonos, an optical digital audio output and an RF in to power the Freeview channels. The side panel isn't much better, supplying only a headphones jack, a single USB slot and a Common Interface slot. On the opposite side of the TV is a recessed panel for hard-button controls for the TV's core functions. Also availableThough 2014's TX-32AS600, TX-32AS500 and TX-32AS400 are still available, Panasonic's line-up for this year includes only one other 32-inch TV, which is pitched slightly above the mid-range TX-32CS510. The TX-32CS600 has a Full HD panel, though still doesn't include the new Firefox OS. Picture qualityHow impressive can a HD-ready TV be? It's hardly cutting edge in term of resolution, but the 32CS510 puts in a surprisingly impressive performance. With less upscaling to contend with, images are left looking clean, colourful and full of contrast. There's a choice of Dynamic, Cinema or True Cinema on the 32CS510, while a custom mode lets you tweak the white balance and the full suite of colours. A good shortcut is to use the True Cinema setting and tweak from there. My calibration test disc revealed the 32CS510 to have vivid, well-saturated colours and excellent peak whites, while a play of Gravity on 2D Blu-ray showed-off enough fine detail to impress on the small screen. OK, so it's not Full HD, but the 32CS510 downscales with little loss of clarity on this scale. Contrast is impressive, too, with lots detail and gradation visible within areas of black that would look solid and impenetrable on most LED TVs. It's an image that's surprisingly refined. I did notice some judder in the 32CS510's images, particularly during vertical panning, with the tightly packed lines of some railings becoming indistinguishable. There's also some motion blur – as there is on all LED TVs – during panning shots, and writing on billboards and credits at the end of movies become harder to read. However, news tickers work OK and are also easy to read. I also noticed a touch of dot crawl around graphics during weather forecasts, and some grain in background during really bright scenes. Although the 32CS510 has a 100Hz mode, it's a bit of a fudge, with the native 50Hz panel treated only to some backlight blinking. It works really well, but it's not totally convincing. However, none of these niggles are at all serious, and mostly less noticeable than on a lot of Full HD LED TVs. Switch to Freetime and a standard definition broadcast of the Women's World Cup on BBC Two looks a tad soft, but seems unusually clean. Turn to Earthflight on BBC Two HD and the picture noticeably jumps in detail. It's not jaw-dropping, but it is pristine and involving, which is more than you can say for most mid-range LED TVs. Meanwhile, the viewing angle is remarkably wide whatever the source. Watch from the wings and the 32CS510's panel retains most of the colour and contrast as it had when viewed head-on.UsabilityMost people find remote controls baffling and confusing, and while Panasonic's remote isn't the simplest, it has been designed with mass-appeal in mind. Buttons are large and well-labelled, with a big white Netflix button above a directional keypad that's all fairly intuitive. The customisation options for myHomeScreen are unique. It's possible to download themes for the entire user interface, with some of the most popular including YouTube, Eurosport, FC Barcelona and various urban landscapes. Watching a live TV panel surrounded by customised widgets isn't particularly nice, but it's great to have your most-used options to call-up as and when, though arguably the Freetime page should be the default. Such customisations don't really work in a living room where multiple people might use a TV, but on a bedroom TV like the 32CS510 it makes a lot more sense. While myHomeScreen is mostly impressive, it's mostly a layer too far. With a Netflix shortcut button already on the remote control and access to all UK catch-up TV offered via Freetime, there's little in myHomeScreen of any consequence. Ditto the electronic programme guide, a standard grid showing seven channels and two hours of schedules for all Freeview HD channels, with a live TV panel in one corner. It's needless duplication that's in danger of making things too complicated for some users. The 32CS510 does well with digital media, though it's rarely a slick experience. Although the software that backs them up is rudimentary, the 32CS510's USB slot and DLNA streaming feature supports sticks and drives holding MKV, AVI, MP4, WMV, WMV HD and FLV video files. Music can be played in MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC and WAV formats. If you've got MP4 video, photos and MP3/WAV music on a tablet or phone, download the Panasonic Remote 2 app for iOS and you can Swipe and Share files to and from the 32CS510. Sound qualityThe sound quality on the 32CS510 is very good. Despite the slim width and depth, its twin 10W speakers offers bold audio that's more than nuanced enough for speech-based news and drama. Movie soundtracks get little pizazz, though stick to the Music mode and there's just enough mid-range to perk things up. If it's all too uniform, the 32CS510 does have a digital optical audio output on its rear that can route everything straight into a home cinema or a soundbar.ValueSince it's built around an HD-ready panel, it's battling supermarket cheapies and no-name brands, so expect a series of imminent price-cuts. It should be possible to get the 32CS510 for under £300 soon enough – and that's an excellent price considering its features and all-round versatility. VerdictThe 32CS510 has a lot on its plate, but a souped-up processor allows it to skip quickly between Freetime, myHomeScreen apps, networking and external devices. Add some clean, bold images and the 32CS510 succeeds in its mission to be a great value, versatile TV for a bedroom. We likedThe provision of Freetime is excellent – especially on a TV this affordable – as is the Swipe and Share functionality on the Panasonic Remote 2 app for phones and tablets. Trading digital files is an excellent feature, while digital file support in general is more than adequate. The HD-ready LED panel will be seen by many as a low-point, though it's an honest approach from Panasonic, which is obviously trying to keep the price down by offering real-world specs. The result is clear, clean images from all sources, since a lot less upscaling is needed. Images have plenty of colour, contrast and detail from all sources, while the viewing angle is wider than expected. We dislikedJust two HDMI inputs? That's too bad, though the provision of a single USB slot is also disappointing. Some will miss the chance to interact with Panasonic's latest Firefox OS, although the fact that the myHomeScreen user interface is on the 32CS510 is surprising at this low price. Since a Netflix button is already on the remote control and the Freetime TV interface is excellent, for many UK users there's little point in interacting with either the Freeview HD tuner pages or the myHomeScreen platform. The latter lacks the catch-up services that Freetime includes. Those multiple layers of the user interface could makes things slightly confusing for the buyer. For instance, the Guide button on the remote should take the user not to a separate, unwanted Freeview HD EPG, but to the Free Digital TV Screen hub page. To avoid any confusion, Freetime should be front and centre. VerdictWould you buy a 32-inch HD-ready telly? In theory such a low-resolution screen is only for those that care more about content than quality, but the savvy buyer need only look at the maths. The provision of Freetime, Freeview HD and Netflix on the 32CS510 – all of which broadcast and stream in the exact same HD-ready quality that LED panel is build to display – makes this a correctly specified TV. Besides, Netflix usually comes down the pipe at 480p. That well-matched resolution is one reason why the 32CS510's images are so clean as well as so technically impressive. It may lack ultimate detail on Blu-ray discs, but that's about it. Gaming, Freeview HD channels, DVDs and Netflix all get a polished, colourful and contrasty treatment that's retained even at extreme viewing angles. Though the 32CS510 lacks Panasonic's latest Firefox-based smart TV platform, the myHomeScreen platform it does have is thorough and impressive. Sure, there's some overlap between Freeview HD, myHomeScreen, the remote's Netflix shortcut and the headline feature, Freetime. In fact, it's probable that you'll forget all about one or two of those features. Either way, what's left is a great value, advanced 32-incher with reliable, versatile picture quality that's only one HDMI input short of being an absolute steal. Also considerLoaded with apps, the Samsung UE32H6400 boasts versatile picture quality and a speedy Smart Hub platform, and though it lacks Freetime, it uses a Full HD LED panel. At the other end of the scale is the only-for-the-UK Finlux 32HBD274B-NC, which is far cheaper, though does have a HD-ready resolution and a built-in DVD player.

OS showdown: OS X 10.11 El Capitan vs Windows 10

Introduction and split screenApple showed off its latest computer operating system, OS X 10.11 "El Capitan," at WWDC and as predicted it was an iterative upgrade, based around improving the core features of OS X and providing a better experience to users. Just like iOS 9, El Capitan takes the essentials of OS X – Safari, desktop management, Spotlight – and makes them better, tweaking the interface or reworking it slightly. Microsoft's Windows 10 is coming at the end of next month and brings with it a whole new set of features, many of them iterations on Windows 8.1. Both new operating systems will be available for free to those who have already got OS X 10.10 or Windows 8 (both have support that extends even further back from this) and the general theme of improvement runs through both. In this article, we are going to gauge how El Capitan's new features stack up against Windows 10. Pin tabs in SafariApple's WWDC keynote spent a fair amount of time talking about improvements to Safari. While many users have switched over to Chrome, the Mac client is traditionally a battery killer and the redesign that OS X 10.10 Yosemite introduced won back support. One of the key features that Apple introduced with El Capitan is the ability to "pin" tabs, making for quick and easy access. The bookmark system of the current incarnation of Safari (version 8) is a little lacklustre and so it's good to see Apple is thinking this through. Windows 10 introduces a much needed change, ousting Internet Explorer and replacing it with Microsoft Edge, a new and fresh browser that attempts to shake off the reputation of IE. We know relatively little about Edge as it is still in the development stage but it doesn't seem to have any way to pin a tab. Apple is a development cycle ahead of Microsoft in terms of releasing a new browser and so it wouldn't be unreasonable to see pinned tabs being "borrowed" by Redmond and implemented in a later version of the software. Split screen desktop One of the main updates to OS X comes in the form of windows management, an area that Microsoft has traditionally been strong in. Many of those watching the show noted the similarity between Windows' "snap" window mode and Apple's new Split View. Dragging a window to one side of the screen can split space down the middle in El Capitan, showing two applications side by side. With every update there is a back and forth between Windows fans and Apple fans about who has implemented the others' features – Microsoft introduced a new multi-desktop mode recently, reminiscent of Apple's Mission Control – and it's pleasant to see that each company respects the other enough to borrow ideas, especially as the net gain is for the user. Apple also unveiled a cleaner Mission Control which makes it easier to manage windows and apps, especially with multiple applications open at once. Better Notes app Note taking is one of Microsoft's fortes, especially with the announcement of the Surface and its pen accessory. OneNote has taken a far bigger role in the makeup of Windows, becoming almost a "mini Word" in terms of its abilities. Meanwhile, Evernote has attracted millions of users across multiple platforms by offering well designed, easy to use apps and services for free, with more available if you pay a subscription. Apple has evidently seen this and has chosen to beef up its note taking offerings, offering a revamp of Notes in El Capitan. Notes can now contain images, videos, links, checklists and so on, and can sync across all Apple devices seamlessly (or so the theory goes) via iCloud.Unlike OneNote and Evernote, Notes is still very much aimed at a consumer audience who don't want to write a book on the service (as Nicolas Carlson of Business Insider did with Evernote). The new checklists feature will be incredibly useful, if not damning for smaller apps, such as Clear. Gaming and MapsMetal for Mac Gaming has never been the strong suit of OS X, despite good hardware on many of the higher-end Macs. iOS, however, has strong roots in mobile gaming and Apple is looking to export some of that gold dust to the Mac via Metal, allowing far faster GPU rendering for developers making for better games. Windows 10 is also set to be a hit with gamers as it incorporates many aspects of Windows 7 (specifically the desktop mode) into the operating system, endearing it to game players in a way that Windows 8 did not. Many of the games on Windows are now becoming available via the Windows Store just as a large quantity of Mac games are on the Mac App Store but it's clear that in gaming, Windows will always have the lead. Better Spotlight searches Searching for files on a computer can be a frustrating experience, especially if you know the file is out there somewhere. Apple is aiming to take away that frustration by adding a more "natural" element to searches, allowing queries like "documents I wrote last month about Apple". Searches for stocks, sports scores and the weather are all supported, too, right from within Spotlight (which can now be resized and moved around the screen). Search in Windows 10 integrates Cortana, Microsoft's virtual assistant that is a mixture of Siri and Google Now. While Siri is not available on Mac, Cortana is as yet untested on a PC and only offers as much information as you can get out of Spotlight. Talking to a PC when there is a keyboard right in front of you may also strike some users as odd, especially for hard-to-understand names of files and so on, but the option is present. Apple's approach is far more traditional but that is because no Mac comes with a touchscreen, an area where Cortana may shine just as virtual assistants do on a phone. Better Maps It is still unknown how many people actually use the built-in Maps app on a Mac (Apple says Maps get 5 billion requests per week but didn't break it down to iOS and OS X) but the company is still innovating, introducing directions that include transfers and public transport information. Microsoft's offering includes various new features in Windows 10, partly because the software is also available on phones. Powered by Bing, there is a new Street View-style feature, a 3D mode and more available for free on Windows 10. Both clients are also available on their mobile counterparts and the relevance of this on desktop – especially for services such as transit directions – is questionable, but it's nice to see that both companies are focusing on it. Big cursor This is one feature that is largely specific to OS X and could, if implemented tastefully, be very useful on a day-to-day basis. The feature stems from the question: "Have you ever lost your cursor?" If the answer is yes, OS X 10.11 has you covered – if you move your mouse quickly, it increases dramatically in size for a few moments alerting you to its location. Of course, Windows 10 is also designed for touchscreen so this shouldn't be a problem but it's nice to see Apple has thought through the everyday usage of its machines and software.
